Fair boardAt their regular board meeting on Monday evening, the Boone County Fair board convened before a crowd of nearly 2 dozen spectators.  Fair Board president Kris Kline called the meeting to order and after hearing comments from members of the gallery, addressed the agenda item regarding the sale of alcohol during the fair. Kline recapped the recent meeting of the Boone County Supervisors during which the Supervisors asked the Fair Board to re-consider their recommendation of alcohol sales during the fair, and then proceeded to unanimously vote to “not tolerate” the sale of alcohol during the fair.  Following a statement of support for the Supervisors’ recommendation by Kline,  the motion to allow alcohol to be sold on the fairgrounds 360 days of the year but not for the 5 days of the fair was made and seconded. A roll call vote resulted in a tie of 6 yea and 6 nay votes.  With that, Board President Kline cast the deciding vote of yea to carry the motion.  Kline acknowledged that this issue had brought forth strong feelings.
