Storm Causes Power Outages

Posted on 02 May 2013 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—Emergency responders in Boone County have been traveling the county, picking up stranded motorists and checking on vehicles in the ditches.  At the same time, Midland Power has had it’s crews out working to restore power to rural customers.  Midland staff reported outages across the county, due to the weather, heavy snow on power lines with strong winds and tree branches fall on lines.  Interstate Power and Light, a part of Alliant Energy has also reported a number of power outages, but most are further north, in northern Iowa and southern Minnesota.  In both cases, company personnel said that if there is a downed line, do stay away from it until crews and check and make sure it’s handled safely.
