UNDATED (AP) – Kevin Garnett had 16 points, 18 rebounds and five assists as the Boston Celtics beat the Knicks 92-86 in New York to force a sixth game of the NBA’s conference quarterfinal series. The Indiana Pacers own a three-games-to-two lead in their opening-round series after David West scored 24 points and Paul George added 21 in a 106-83 win over Atlanta. And James Harden’s seven three-pointers and 31 points lifted Houston past Oklahoma City 107-100, stretching that series to a sixth game.

ST. FRANCIS, Wis. (AP) – The Milwaukee Bucks are in search of a new head coach after dismissing Jim Boylan yesterday. The Bucks were swept out of the playoffs by the Miami Heat after dropping 12 of their last 16 regular-season games to post their eighth losing season in nine years. Boylan was promoted from assistant coach when Scott Skiles left the team on Jan. 8.

UNDATED (AP) – The Pittsburgh Penguins and Boston Bruins opened their Stanley Cup playoff schedules with victories. Pascal Dupuis (doo-PWEE’) scored twice and Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 26 shots as the Pens blanked the Islanders 5-0, and Nathan Horton provided the game-winner in the Bruins’ 4-1 triumph against Toronto. San Jose is the first team to win on the road after Dan Boyle scored the game-winner and had an assist in a 3-1 verdict over Vancouver.

UNDATED (AP) – Washington Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg is expected to make his next scheduled start after experiencing no pain during a bullpen session in Atlanta. Strasburg had some discomfort in his right arm during a start Monday night against the Braves. While manager Davey Johnson initially was concerned it could be serious, it appears Strasburg had nothing more than an irritated nerve from using an electrical stimulation machine.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) – Texas Rangers opening-day starter Matt Harrison has undergone a second operation, eight days after surgery to repair a herniated disk in his lower back. An MRI performed yesterday revealed another herniation in the same disk after Harrison started feeling pain in his leg following the first procedure. The Rangers don’t expect Harrison back for about three months.
