BOONE, Iowa—A postcard inviting people to attend a meeting Monday evening, April 29th at the Boone County Fairgrounds apparently has the wrong date. There is a meeting at the Fairgrounds Monday evening, but Extension personnel and Fair Board staff say it is a planned meeting with 4 H volunteers and Fair Board members. The meeting many might be waiting for is scheduled for next Monday, May 6th at the Fairgrounds. The Fair Board 4-H volunteer meeting is being held in preparation for the 2013 Boone County Fair.
The May 6th meeting will be the regular business meeting for the Boone County Fair Board. The meeting will deal with the recent vote by the Boone County Board of Supervisor on April 17th that said they would “not tolerate the sale of alcohol at the Boone County Fairgrounds during the County Fair and will do whatever is necessary to assure that it does not happen.” The Fair Board will be asked to reconsider their earlier decision that would permit the sale of alcohol on the fairgrounds during the fair. The regular meeting on May 6th is open to the public.
