NEW YORK (AP) – A pair offensive tackles went 1-2 in the NFL draft for the first time since 1970 last night. The Kansas City Chiefs chose Eric Fisher of Central Michigan to begin the NFL draft and Jacksonville took 6-foot-6, 306-pound Luke Joeckel (JOHK’-uhl) with the second pick.
NEW YORK (AP)- The first seven picks in the draft were linemen–four on offense, three on defense. No quarterback was taken until Florida State’s EJ Manuel went to Buffalo at No. 16 – and no running back was taken during the entire first round.
MILWAUKEE (AP) – The defending NBA champion Miami Heat own a 3-0 lead over Milwaukee after rallying to beat the Bucks 104-91 behind Ray Allen’s 23 points. Allen’s five 3-pointers against the Bucks gave him 322 for his career, two more than Reggie Miller, for the NBA record.
CHICAGO (AP) – Carlos Boozer had 22 points and 16 rebounds, Luol Deng (LOO’-ul dehng) added 21 points and 10 boards, and the Chicago Bulls held off the Brooklyn Nets 79-76 in Game 3 to take a 2-1 series lead. Brooklyn shot 35 percent for the second straight game.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP)- The Memphis Grizzlies have cut the L.A. Clippers’ series lead to 2-1 with a 94-82 victory last night. Zach Randolph led the way with 27 points and 11 rebounds.
