BOONE, Iowa—Bond for 39-year old Alexander Fazzino has been reduced by Second Judicial District Court Judge in Boone County. Judge Michael Moon released his decision Wednesday, lowering the bond to $500,000. Fazzino is charged with first degree murder in connection with the death of his wife Emily Fazzino in January 2012. Fazzino’s attorney Bill Kutmus of Des Moines argued Monday that a bond of $1.5 million was excessive in light of the evidence in the case and the fact that Fazzino has no criminal record. Kutmus had actually asked for a more substantial reduction in bond, indicating that Fazzino would return to Missouri to be with his children. Fazzino had moved to Missouri immediately after the death of his wife with their three children. He has been residing with his parents and working for his father. When Fazzino was arrested, he did not contest extradition to Iowa.
Boone County Attorney Dan Kolacia had contested the request for a bond reduction and had actually sought an increase in the bond to $2 Million. No trial date has been set at this time.
