Supervisors to Consider CIE Waiver

Posted on 24 April 2013 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Board of Supervisors are being asked to consider a waiver for the Central Iowa Expo Board that would allow the Board to retain payments for sponsorship and fundraising to be used for site operations for the next fiscal year.  Originally, the plan was for the Central Iowa Expo Board to make payments to the county for expenses incurred by the county.  That has been the issue facing the Supervisors for the past couple of years, fundraising and sponsorship revenues have been coming in much slower than anticipated six years ago.  The concern for the Supervisors will be delays in receiving payments which would cover commitments  already agreed to by the Board.  After a slow start with fundraising and sponsorship in 2008, there has been some gradual improvement in the past year.
