BOONE, Iowa—The Boone City Council’s Economic Development Committee has visited two additional downtown locations where owners have expressed an interest in being a part of the Boone Downtown Incentive Program. The most recent visits were to properties in the 900 Block of Story Street on the north and south side of the tracks, the offices of the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce and the property at 921-927 Story Street owned by Randy Sieve. Sieve is interested in doing work on the exterior of his buildings, including window replacement and siding. The Boone Area Chamber of Commerce has a much more extensive project to make their current home more suitable for use as office space. The Chamber has to deal with the discussion of being a tenant while the UP Railroad actually owns the building.
The Committee has now reviewed seven possible projects and invited several to participate in the Incentive Program. Only one has actually moved ahead with the application at the this time, that’s Mike Pritchard, owner of J&H Apartments at 1027 Story Street.
