The Bears will play Iowa for the title on Thursday night, after the Hawkeyes got 21 points and nine rebounds from Devyn Marble in a 71-60 win over Maryland.
NORFOLK, Va. (AP) – Skylar Diggins score 24 points to lead Notre Dame to an 87-76 win over Duke to earn its third consecutive trip to the Final Four. The 35-1 Fighting Irish won their school-record 30th consecutive game, earning a meeting with Connecticut in the national semifinals.
WASHINGTON (AP) -John Wall had 27 points, nine assists, eight rebounds and three blocks to lead Washington to a 90-86 win over the injury-plagued Chicago Bulls. The Bulls Taj Gibson reinjured his leg in the second quarter and will have an MRI. Chicago was already without Derrick Rose, Joakim (JOH’-kihm) Noah, Marco Belinelli and Richard Hamilton who are all injured.
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – Free agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha (NAHM’-dee AH’-suhm-wah) reached agreement on a one-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers that could pay him as much as $3 million this year. The former All-Pro was released by the Eagles last month after two disappointing seasons. The 49ers deal has no guaranteed money. Asomugha is due to earn a base package of $1.35 million with salary and bonuses, and could make an additional $1.65 million in incentives.
BOSTON (AP) – The Boston Bruins acquired Jaromir Jagr (YAR’-oh-meer YAH’-ger) from Dallas, hoping the 10th-leading goal scorer in NHL history can improve their shaky offense even at age 41. The deal for two prospects and a draft pick came six days after the Bruins thought they obtained forward Jarome Iginla from the Calgary Flames, only to learn Iginla had been traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
