LOS ANGELES (AP) – Clayton Kershaw accomplished something that hadn’t been done for 60 years in the Dodgers season opening 4-0 win over San Francisco. Kershaw became the first pitcher to toss a shutout and hit a home run in an opening day game since Cleveland’s Bob Lemon in 1956.

UNDATED (AP) – Two-time All-Star shortstop Elvis Andrus has reached an agreement on a contract guaranteeing him $120 million over an additional eight seasons through 2022 with the Texas Rangers, a person familiar with the negotiations says. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the deal won’t be finalized until after a physical. That likely won’t happen until Thursday, after the team wraps up its season-opening series at Houston.

CHICAGO (AP) – Michal Rozsival scored in the sixth round of the shootout to give Western Conference leading Chicago a 3-2 win over Nashville. The Predators overcame a 2-0 deficit with third period goals by David Legwand and Taylor Beck to earn a point and move to within two points of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

PHOENIX (AP) – A Pac-12 investigation found that coordinator of officials Ed Rush was joking when he offered incentives to officials to target Arizona coach Sean Miller during internal meetings before the conference tournament. Miller was assessed a technical foul during the conference tournament semifinal game against UCLA and later fined $25,000 for confronting an official on the floor.

WASHINGTON (AP) – Cornerback DeAngelo Hall is back with the Washington Redskins, agreeing to a more affordable one-year contract after being cut for salary cap reasons three weeks ago. A person familiar with the deal says that Hall decided to return for approximately $2 million in 2013, a considerable drop-off from the $7.5 million in salary he would have made under his previous contract.
