BOONE, Iowa—The Boone School Board has already decided that their budget hearing for the next fiscal year will be held on April 9th, but the publication won’t be completed until later this week. Board Secretary Paulette Newbold told Board members earlier this month that the final piece of information will come from the planned $6.125 million general obligation bond sale that will be completed later in the day Tuesday. Bids were received a mid-morning and the School Board will take formal action during a work session meeting at 5:00 in the afternoon. Once that is completed, Newbold said she would have the final information that will be included in the budget proposed for the next fiscal year. The projected rate in early March was just under $16.70 with about 40 cents of the total the result of the Budget Guarantee due to the calculation of no allowable growth. The changes from today’s bond sale are not expected to have a significant impact on the proposed budget.
