BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Board of Supervisors are not wasting anytime in moving forward with interviews with potential candidates seeking an appointment as the Boone County Attorney. The deadline to submit letters of interest and qualifications was Monday. Tuesday, 21-candidates had submitted information and Supervisors began reviewing that information, eventually narrow the list of candidates to five for interviews. Of the five, three are currently assistant county attorneys in Iowa, including Daniel Gonnerman the current Boone County Assistant County Attorney. In preparation for filling the position, the Supervisors have already made the decision to make the position full time, with a restriction of no private practice. By state code, the Supervisors have 40-days to fill the vacancy created when Adria Kesters resignation took affect the end of January. That means the position needs to be filled no later than March 12th. Former County Attorney Jim Robbins has been serving as the interim County Attorney until the position is filled.
