CHICAGO (AP) – The Chicago Blackhawks continue to dominate the news from the NHL. By beating Edmonton in overtime last night the Hawks kept their streak alive of having scored a point in each of their 19 games this season. Their season record is 16-0-3.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – The nation’s top-ranked basketball team is on the road for a game tonight as No. 1 Indiana is playing at Minnesota. The Hoosiers start the night with a record of 24-3.
MIAMI (AP) – The hottest team in the NBA is Miami as the Heat have won 11 straight games. On the year they have the best overall record in the Eastern Conference with wins in 40 of their 54 games. Tonight the Heat are playing host to Sacramento’s Kings.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – The Oklahoma City Thunder have signed veteran guard Derek Fisher. He’ll help fill the opening for a third point guard that was created when Eric Maynor was traded to Portland. Fisher played briefly with Dallas this season but asked for his release in December because of an injured knee.
UNDATED (AP) – Tom Brady and the New England Patriots have come to terms on a new contract. A person familiar with the contract tells The Associated Press that the veteran quarterback has received a three-year extension worth about $27 million. The new deal, which restructures his contract, clears nearly $15 million from New England’s salary cap.
