BOONE, Iowa—Boone Parks and Public Works Director John Rouse told the Boone City Council last week that they will probably begin getting complaints for residents about the condition of the alleys and gravel roads. Rouse said at the Boone City Council meeting last Monday that “it’s that time of the year” when the gravel surfaces get pretty torn up and repairs are delayed until things dry up. Late last week, the Parks Department did close McHose Park to vehicular traffic to preserve the gravel roads within the park. Quite a bit of repair was done to the roads over the last couple of years. Rouse also told the Council that there currently is not ban on garbage trucks in alleys, but that is also something done by Public Works in the spring to reduce damage.
