School Board Approves Calendar

Posted on 12 February 2013 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone School Board has approved the calendar for the 2013-14 school year, but not without additional discussion over concerns such as students returning to class after the winter break on Friday, January 3rd.  Superintendent Brad Manard says issues include the start of the athletic calendar in August which will coincide with the early start of the school year.  Manard says the calendar does call for graduation to be held May 18th with the last day of classes on May 23rd.  5th through 12th grade students would begin class on August 15th.  Winter break would being on December 23rd with staff returning for in service on January 2nd and students the following day.  Spring break would be a little longer because the previous Friday would be no school because Parent-Teacher Conferences would be held during the week.  The Friday after conferences has traditionally been a no school day.
