On Saturday January 19th at 1pm, over 300 ping pong balls posing as snowballs were dropped on 8th Street in Boone.  The Shiverfest Snowball Drop was a Boone Area Merchants Association promotion.  Each of the “snowballs” was hand numbered, and that number corresponded to a prize or discount provided by local merchants.  Temperatures in the mid 30′s greeted Frosty the Snowman and the dozens of  people attending.

There were two drops – one for kids and one for adults.  Special discounts and offers on the snowballs are valid through January 26, 2013.
