Blood in Demand

Posted on 14 January 2013 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—LifeServe Blood Center will hold two one-day community Blood Drives in Boone County Monday.  One in Boone at the Boone County Hospital.  The move to the hospital is a change from the Boone Senior Center.  The hospital drive will be held in the 4th floor conference room and donors are encouraged to use the elevator on the west end of the hospital.  In Madrid, the drive makes up for the one cancelled during the blizzard on December 20th.  Actually LifeServe cancelled all their blood drives during the blizzard.  The Madrid Blood Drive will be held at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church.  Both will be held from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

January is National Blood Donor Month and demand is quite high.  A contributing factor is the illness that’s currently affecting many in Central Iowa.  Those that are in good health are encouraged to donate.  Appointments have been taken online at www.lifeservebloodcenter.org or by calling 800-287-4903.  As always, walk-ins are welcome at all blood drives.
