Xenia Customers North of Boone Get Boil Order

Posted on 11 January 2013 by KWBG

BOUTON, Iowa—Xenia Rural Water District has issued a Boil Advisory for about 800 customers north of Boone, east of the Des Moines River in Webster and Hamilton Counties and in the Story City area.  The advisory is issued because of a water main break that occurred Friday morning.  A boil advisory means that it is recommended not to drink the water without boiling it first.  Water should be boiled for at least one minute, then allowed to cool before using.  Boiled and bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth and food preparation until further notice.  The water may be used for bathing and doing laundry.  Once water service is restored, testing will be conducted to determine when the water is safe to drink.  The Xenia Boil Advisory does not affect the City of Boone.
