Friday’s Recipes: Triple Treat Candy and Fudge Pudding 1.11.2013

Triple Treat Candy by CK
2 cups chocolate chips
2 Tbsp vegetable shortening
14 oz pkg caramels
3 Tbsp butter
2 Tbsp water
1 cup Virginia peanuts
Melt the chocolate chips and shortening in the top of a double boiler. Pour half the mixture in a foil lined 9×9 pan. Refrigerate until firm (about 15 minutes). While chocolate cools, melt caramels, butter and water together over low heat until smooth. Stir the peanuts into the caramel mixture. Pour caramel over firmed up chocolate. Refrigerate until firm (about another 15 minutes). Re-heat the remaining chocolate mixture until pourable, and spread it over the top of the caramel layer. Chill about an hour and cut into 1 inch pieces.

Fudge Pudding by BDM
Mix together in a 2 quart deep baking dish
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 T cocoa
2 t baking powder
1/2 c sugar
Melt 2 T butter, and then add 1/2 cup milk and 1 tsp vanilla. Mix the liquid into the dry ingredients, beat by hand.
Then combine
3 T cocoa
1/2 c sugar
1/2 c brown sugar
Sprinkle over batter.
Pour 2 c hot water over the top. Bake at 350 degrees 30 to 40 minutes. Serve warm.
