BOONE, Iowa—Things have moved along quickly once the Boone City Council found out they would not be able to use a federal allocation to pay for a portion of the Industrial Park Road project. The Council has directed staff to use Tax Increment Financing to pay for the city’s share. In the early 1990’s, the Council created an Urban Renewal District, outside the city limits over the industrial park. The district was only used for one project, and the increment has been left alone for several years. By using the increment, the Council will be able to continue participation in the paving of the Industrial Park Road. This week, the Boone County Supervisors went ahead with call for the bids on the project to be submitted by the end of the month. The Board hopes to address the bids at their meeting on January 30th. The City Council will still be asked to sign off on the joint project.
