BOONE, Iowa—The calendar year is winding down and Boone Fire Chief Justin Adams says it’s the time of the year when the Fire Department seeks people that are interested in becoming “paid on call” fire fighters. Adams says the fourth class of recruits will actually begin the process in mid-January. He says the first three years have been pretty successful. Adams says the Boone Fire Department does have a nice group of dependable “paid on call” fire fighters. But, he says he would like to increase the size of the group because peoples lives change and sooner or later current “paid on call” staff might not be available. Adams says there are already a number of people signed up to take part, but some may not be able to continue for a variety of reasons. Those that might be interested in at least applying to take part in the “paid on call” training can use the application here.
