BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Conservation Commission did not approve a request from the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce’s Convention and Visitors Bureau to place a large sign about Boone County attractions near the High Trestle Trail. Commission members had a few concerns after considering the matter over the past month. One of the bigger concerns was the possibility of additional requests seeking signage for other communities and businesses. However, the Commission’s decision still leaves the door open for possible signage, if groups and communities can work together. The Conservation Commission does have a policy restricting commercial advertising along the trail, something that is meant to protect the aesthetic value of the trail and the High Trestle
Bridge.
