BOONE, Iowa—The Boone Park Commission continued it’s ongoing efforts to improve facilities and offer more opportunities to residents with a refurbishing of the Memorial Park Shelter House. The old concession stand was considered an excellent location for an improved shelter, and late last month, Parks and Public Works Director John Rouse presented the information to the City Council. Many have seen the pictures in mailings from the Boone Parks Foundation, which once again carried a part of the cost for the improvements. The improvements cost roughly $30,000 and Rouse told the Council they expect to begin renting the facility in 2013. The next project is the Gutterridge Equestrian Center.
