State Senator Jerry Behn decides not to seek the Senate Republican Leadership

today announced that he decided not to seek re-election to be the Iowa Senate Republican Leader during the upcoming session.  Behn served as the Senate Minority Leader during the session earlier this year.  He was focused on efforts to win enough seats to wrest control away from the Senate Democrats, but fell a little short in the general election.  Behn says the new caucus leadership has his full support and he intends to work hard to ensure a successful upcoming legislative session and 2014 election.  Behn was recently re-elected to the Senate and represents District 24.  The district number is the same as the previous district, but the view has changed quite a bit.  Now, besides Boone County, the district includes Greene County, Hamilton County and portions of Story and Webster Counties.
