BOONE, Iowa—The Boone School Board had a review of possible scenarios for funding for the next school year, now that the enrollment has been certified. Board Business Manager Paulette Newbold used Allowable Growth figures of 0% to 2% and calculated the potential impact for the Boone District. Newbold’s figures show that if the legislature settles on 2% the Boone District would receive about $207,000 in new money from the budget guarantee. 0% and 1% would end up at $131,000. The Board has approved the application to seek authority to levy for necessary additional funds under the state budget review opportunity. Board members did discuss some of the possible allowable growth rates that are being talked about by educators.
