County Conservation to Discuss Naturalist Position

Posted on 12 November 2012 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—Boone County Conservation Board will include a discussion about the Naturalist position as part of their meeting Monday.  Emily Klein has been the Boone County Naturalist for a couple of years, but the recent resignation of Lisa Anderson as a Boone County Environment Education Coordinator for the Boone County Landfill and Keep Boone County Beautiful has led discussions about the future of those positions.  The Boone County Supervisors have asked Landfill Administrator and Recycling Coordinator Scott Smith to hold on filling the position held by Lisa Anderson.  At one time the positions had been combined.  Over the past two years, both Anderson and Klein had expanded services to Boone County residents, Anderson through educational programs on the environmental, the landfill and recycling and Klein through numerous outdoor activities like canoe floats, snowshoeing and similar events.  The Monday night Conservation Board meeting will be the first time the Board has discussed the topic.
