BOONE, Iowa—Boone County Sheriff’s Department has released additional information on Friday afternoons fatal traffic accident north of Boone. Saturday, authorities identified the operator of the motorcycle that collided head on with an SUV. 38-year old Clinton W. Marxen of Boone was traveling north on Nature Road when he crossed the center line and collided with the south bound vehicle operated by 37-year old Anna M. Richards of Boone. The investigation so far indicates the impact caused a fire. Richards was pinned in the front seat with a foot injury and was unable to get out the front door. Authorities report that Richards was able to free herself, got into the back seat and escaped out a back door, crawling into the ditch to get away from the flames. The Boone County Medical Examiner pronounced Marxen dead at the scene. Richards was taken by ambulance to the Boone County Hospital where she received treatment for non-life threatening injuries. The Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by both the Boone Police and Fire Departments and Boone County Hospital Paramedics and Ambulance. The investigation is on going at this time.
