BOONE, Iowa—The race in the new 4th Congressional District in Iowa is getting right down to the wire and because it’s turned into a high profile battle, both candidates, current Congressman Steve King and former Iowa First Lady Christie Vilsack are really pushing supporters to get out every last vote.  King brought his “Restoring Our American Dream Victory Tour” to the Boone County Republican Headquarters Wednesday.  King says he expects a tight race and it’s important to get voters to the polls.  King says he and his advisors put together a campaign plan a year and half ago and have followed it closely.  He says he feels he’s in position to return to Washington and represent the new Iowa 4th District.  Vilsack, in Boone Thursday, says she’s proud of the campaign she ran and she’s particularly proud that she mounted a challenge against King.  She also told supporters that it was important to get everyone out to vote.   Boone County Auditor Phil Meier said Thursday that early absentee voting could top 7,000 by next week.  The Auditor’s office will be open Saturday from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM.
