OGDEN, Iowa—The State Medical Examiners Office has completed the autopsy of Jaclyn Powell of Ogden. According to information from the Iowa Department of Public Safety, Powell died from asphyxiation due to strangulation and the manner of death is being classified as a homicide. 28-year old Josh Andrew Powell called the Boone County Communications Center Sunday morning and told dispatchers that his wife was dead inside a home at 101 West Cherry Street in Ogden. Ogden Police were the first on the scene and found Josh Powell waiting outside the home. Police entered the home and found the body of 25-year old Jaclyn Powell. Court records show the Powell admitted to having and altercation with his wife on Saturday evening. Powell had told authorities that he intentionally struck Jaclyn Powell, resulting in her death. Powell told investigators that he had checked for a pulse found none and fled the scene. He returned Sunday morning to call authorities. Powell has been charged with First Degree Murder and remains in custody at the Boone County Jail on $2-million bond. The investigation has involved the Ogden Police Department, the Boone County Sheriff’s Department and the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation. The next court appearance for Josh Powell is set for Thursday, November 1st.
