Search and Rescue, Reserve Deputies Fund Raiser

Posted on 23 October 2012 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—Volunteers that make up the Boone County Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue and Reserve Deputies will host a fund raiser pancake breakfast, Sunday morning at the 7 Oaks Lodge between Boone and Ogden on US Highway 30.  Dallas Wingate, Patrol Sargent with the Sheriff’s Department says the volunteers for both programs provide a big service to Boone County residents through the Sheriff’s Department.  Over the past two years, Reserve Deputies have assisted with everything from RAGBRAI to the Farm Progress Show.  While Search and Rescue continues to provide assistance for everything from fire calls to searching the wooded river valley for missing people.  On the KWBG Tuned In Program Tuesday, Wingate says dollars received by the fund raiser go right back into things like equipment used by the volunteers.  Most recently, work was being done to repair one of two trucks that had broken down.  Those trucks are used to tow things like the Search and Rescue Air Trailer used to fill air tanks for fire fighters or boats used on lakes and rivers.  Hear more of Wingate’s comments on Tuned In.
