Ogden Man Faces Murder Charge

OGDEN, Iowa—A 28-year old Ogden man is being held on a charge of 1st degree murder in connection with the death of his wife, 25-year old Jaclyn Powell.  Joshua Andrew Powell called the Boone County Communications Center Sunday morning at 10:11 to report the death of his wife.  Ogden Police responded and found Powell outside his residence at 101 West Cherry Street in Ogden.  Ogden Police entered the residence and found the body of Jaclyn Powell.  Josh Powell is being held at the Boone County Jail on $2-million bond.  An autopsy on Jaclyn Powell will be conducted by the State Medical Examiner Monday.

According to the criminal complaint, Powell told officers that he had been in a physical fight with his wife, Jaclyn Powell on Saturday.  Powell told officers that during the fight he intentionally struck Jaclyn Powell resulting in her death.  Powell stated that he checked Jaclyn Powell’s pulse and she did not have one.  Powell then fled the scene and returned the next morning when he called 9-1-1.

It should be noted that a criminal charge is merely and accusation and suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
