BOONE, Iowa—Workers were hurrying to install the roof on the Gigglin’ Goat in downtown Boone this week. With rain the forecast, replacing the roof damaged during the July 13th fire was instrumental. Owner Chad Thompson had said earlier that the roof needed to be replaced before any restoration work could begin inside. After the July 13th fire, Thompson vowed to repair and reopen the restaurant and bar. The fire did damage the roof and it took time to get the materials to replace the damage. The interior did not have any fire damage, but had sustained some water damage.
