Fire Department Open House Successful

Posted on 12 October 2012 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone Fire Department had more than 500-people turn out for their open house during Fire Prevention Week.  Thursday afternoon and evening, children turned out with parents, grandparents and the general public at large.  Fire fighters were promoting the theme for Fire Prevention Week, “Have 2 Ways Out”.  There were also refreshments, hot dogs and chips for those attending.  Adults also had a chance to visit with fire fighters about fire safety as well.

Crawl Low In Smoke. Fire fighters helped children crawl through a room with simulated smoke.

Stop, Drop and Roll. Fire fighters help children practice their stop, drop and roll safety moves.

Simulated Fire Extinguishment. Captain Max Cook helps a child with the hose as that practice putting out a fire.

You can’t have an open house without getting a chance to be in a fire truck.
