OGDEN, Iowa—The Ogden City Council received an update on progress being made on a wellness center currently being planned for construction in their community. Ogden City Administrator Donovan Olson has been working with the Economic Development Group “Legacy” putting the project together. In fact, on “Tuned In” Olson updated information on financing for the project and about the work that remains to be done. He said over half the estimated cost is being covered by the Leonard Good Trust in the amount of $500,000. Olson says an application is being prepared for submission to the USDA for a grant of $300,000 that would actually have to be repaid to Ogden Utilities for use in a revolving loan account to be used for future economic development opportunities. Additional fund raising will be conducted, but the big item to be determined will be finalizing monthly rent and costs for the Boone County Hospital to use the facility as a new clinic. More of Olson’s comments can be heard on the KWBG “Tuned In” program found here, or downloading here. Right click and save as.
