BOONE, Iowa—Boone Public Works and Park Director John Rouse says three monument companies have spent quite a bit of time Monday, resetting monuments at the Linwood Park Cemetery. The tombstones and monuments were vandalized last Thursday night or Friday morning. About 100 had reportedly been tipped over or broken. Heartland Monument of Ogden, Roger Plath, Kalliln Johnson Monument Company of Fort Dodge and finally Nevada Monument were voluntarily resetting the monuments. Rouse had said damages and resetting the monuments would have cost several thousands of dollars. There will still be monuments that have been damaged and will need to be replaced, but having professional reset those that had been tipped will be a huge savings. In the meantime, Boone Police are continuing their investigation into the vandalism. A reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved has been established.

It’s great to see people come together during such senseless activity. Especially with skills and tools most of us don’t have. Thanks Roger and others.
