UNDATED (AP) – After two Sundays of the NFL season, there are five teams sporting 2-0 records, and they’re not all the usual suspects. The Arizona Cardinals, Houston Texans, San Diego Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers are 2-0 heading into tonight’s Atlanta-Denver game. The winner of that game also will be 2-0.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Indianapolis quarterback Andrew Luck is a winner in his second NFL game after helping the Colts to a 23-20 win over Minnesota in their home opener. Adam Vinatieri’s (vihn-uh-TEHR’-eez) 53-yard field goal with 8 seconds left was the difference.
ST. LOUIS (AP)- Washington rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III wasn’t as fortunate in his second NFL game. Though he played well enough, the Redskins gave up a 21-6 halftime lead and fell to the St. Louis Rams 31-28 as Sam Bradford passed for 310 yards.
ATLANTA (AP) – The Atlanta Braves have closed within five and a-half games of the National League East-leading Washington Nationals. The Braves finished a three-game sweep of the Nats with a 5-1 victory last night, denying the bid by Washington hurler Gio (JEE’-oh) Gonzalez to become the majors’ first 20-game winner.
JOLIET, Ill. (AP) – Brad Keselowski opened NASCAR’s 10-race Chase for the Sprint Cup by outdueling Jimmie Johnson to win at Chicagoland Speedway. Keselowski takes over the season points lead, with a three-point edge over Johnson.
