BOONE, Iowa—Shortly after a July 13th fire, Chad Thompson, owner of the Gigglin’ Goat in downtown Boone said he would reconstruct the business. This week, that plan took a big step forward with the reconstruction of the roof. Removal of the fire damaged roof was conducted over the past couple of weeks, and Wednesday, the new trusses showed up. Fire damage had been confined to the roof structure and some of the ventilation equipment over the kitchen area on the east end of the building. Interior damage was mostly water related and Thompson has said once the roof is replaced, interior restoration is expected to move along quickly.
