BOONE, Iowa—Charles Irwin spent more than two decades as the Executive Director of the Boone County Historical Society. He recently stepped down as Director and became a full-time instructor at the Boone DMACC Campus. Irwin says he’s been lucky to have been able to do two dream jobs, museum director and now a teacher. Irwin was the Historical Society’s first professional museum director. He supervised the moving of the collection from the Ericson Public Library to the new Museum and Historical Center in 1990. The Historical Society Board hosted a reception Wednesday for the public to greet Irwin.
