BOONE, Iowa—The Boone Area Humane Society Board of Directors have voted to terminate Executive Director Heidi Drees-White during a regular Board meeting Tuesday evening.  Board President Jane Elsberry told a large crowd of interested people that there would be no discussion about the personnel matter, that the discussion had been covered over the past three months.  Board members voted by secret ballot, with the majority present voting to terminate.  Drees-White was asked to remove her belongings from the BAHS Shelter following the meeting.  Several of her supporters were upset by the Board’s action and were critical that the Board would not discuss the issues surrounding their vote.  Drees-White did pass out two letters related to personnel matters, one expressing the Board’s decision to not pursue charges against a Boone man involved with the killing of two cats.  The second did lay out a time frame to work on personnel issues identified by the Board.  Current staff members at BAHS are expected to continue providing services.
