BOONE, Iowa—Fire fighters were able to contain a house fire in the Des Moines River Valley, northwest of Boone Monday.  The initial call was for a house fire which was apparently well underway by the time fire fighters arrived.  Flying embers created a concern about secondary fires, especially in the timbered areas.  Fire fighters were fortunate to contain the blaze but did have to spend a lot of time making sure that were no hot spots where the fire could rekindle.  The fire was in the 700 area of Leaf Road on the west side of the Des Moines River, in the Ogden Fire District.  Multiple agencies assisted in bring the fire under control.  There were no reported injuries.
