Car Train Accident Claims One

BOONE, Iowa—An unidentified man was killed when his vehicle struck the side of a Union Pacific train Monday evening, east of Boone.  Authorities report that the man apparently drove around the railroad barrier and struck the side of the train.  His vehicle was dragged about a thousand feet before the train was able to stop.  Union Pacific personnel reported the accident.  According to the Iowa State Patrol, the identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
