BOONE, Iowa—A 58-year old Boone man has been identified as the driver of the car that collided with a Union Pacific freight train Monday evening.  Boone County Sheriff Ron Fehr reported Tuesday that multiple deputies were at the scene of the accident.  Fehr’s report says the train was traveling west into the Boone rail yard when Charles Hagen of Boone, went around the railroad arms and struck the train near the last few cars.  Hagen’s car was dragged along the track for some distance before the train was stopped.  The collision occurred at “S” Avenue and the car was dragged almost all the way to “R” Avenue to the west.  The Iowa State Patrol is also involved with the investigation.
