BOONE, Iowa—Boone Police are investigating a car pedestrian accident that occurred Thursday evening on the south side of Boone. Commander John Sloter reported that officers were called to the 1000 block of Hawkeye Drive shortly after 9:00 PM for an emergency medical situation. When officer arrived they learned that there had been an accident. The injured pedestrian was identified as 34-year old Riann Behm. Behm had been walking west on Hawkeye Drive from South Linn Street with a second person, when a car, operated by 19-year old Russell Latree of Boone, also headed west, struck Behm. Behm was flown from the scene and as of Friday morning was in critical condition at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Sloter said Boone Police had requested assistance in the investigation from the Iowa State Patrol. No charges have been filed at this time. Latree and the second pedestrian were not injured.
