According to Boone Superintendent Brad Manard, on Monday, August 27 at dismissal time from the High School, there was an incident in the High School parking lot.

Manard reports that a student was approached by an adult male who resides near the school parking lot. The adult was in possession of a knife, and School Resource Office Dave Powers as well as other Boone Police Officers intervened. As the adult tried to leave the scene, he was incapacitated with a taser and placed in custody. He was transported from the scene by ambulance due to an injury from his fall.

No students were injured. The individual is in custody charged with assaulting a police officer. Additional charges may be pending. The incident remains under investigation.
