BOONE, Iowa—The Crawford Hall Family Shelter has been awarded a check for $10,300 from the Monsanto Fund, the philanthropic arm of the Monsanto Company. The award was officially made at a presentation at the Crawford Hall Family Shelter at noon Monday. The proceeds will be applied toward the installation of an updated fire suppression system. Last week, representatives did approach the Boone City Council about possibly waiving the tapping fee for the project. The Council did not take any action on the request, instead turning the matter over the Council’s Utility Committee which will be meeting in August.
