BOONE, Iowa—Boone City Code has open burning of yard waste in the spring set for April 15th to May 15th, but the unseasonably mild weather has led to a quite a few people calling the fire department and asking them to change the dates. Since the Fire Department can’t change the code, the matter will be brought to the Council when they meet Monday. The ordinance is written to allow the Council to adjust dates and times by resolution. The ordinance has been in place since 2000. The Boone County Landfill has already adjusted their dates for free yard waste because of the weather.
