BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Board of Supervisors did take formal action Wednesday to acknowledge the receipt of a Notice of Intent to Issue a Permit for an expansion of the Capstone Finishers confined animal feeding operation in Jackson Township. Once again, a number of residents gathered to encourage the Supervisors to appeal the decision. Earlier in February, the Supervisor held a Master Matrix Review, as required by law. The project passed the review, but the Board submitted a letter in opposition to the permit. The law allows 14-days to appeal the Iowa DNR decision, and Chairman of the Board Steve Duffy says they consider an appeal at their next meeting on March 7th.
