BOONE, Iowa—The Union Pacific Railroad has confirmed that there was a problem in the Boone Rail yard Tuesday morning when five cars of a Chicago to Council Bluffs train derailed as the train was leaving the yard. Officials said there were no injuries and the cars remained up right and did not impact traffic on the main line. The exact cause of the derailment was being investigated. There was a problem for traffic on Quartz Avenue on the east end of the rail yard, many trucks had to be routed through town to get to the industrial park.
