BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Compensation Board met earlier this month to consider recommendations for salary increases for Boone County elected officials. The Board’s recommendations go to the Supervisors and can be accepted, lowered or rejected outright. The last couple of years, proposed increases were eliminated. This year, the Compensation Board recommended dollar amount increases based on salaries for similar positions in similar sized counties. The proposal created some issues for the Supervisors and for Department heads as well. A letter is being prepared, asking the Compensation Board of reconvene and reconsider their recommendations.
