BOONE, Iowa—Most of the political campaign focus is on the Presidential candidates in Iowa, but after the Caucuses next Tuesday, attention will turn to the June Primary and local candidates for public office. After winning a term for Boone County Sheriff in 2008, Ron Fehr indicated it may be his last term. If Fehr decides to retire, there are already candidates that have shown an interest in running. Current Chief Deputy, Gregg Elsberry has indicated he will seek the Democratic nomination for Sheriff. Rick Lampe of Ogden, retired from the Iowa State Patrol and currently the Boone County E911 Coordinator, has indicated he will seek the Republican nomination for Sheriff.
